Welcome Message from the Rector, Monsignor Michael G. Glenn
To all of the community of St. John Vianney Theological Seminary, welcome. We are appreciative of your interest in us. We also welcome you to our newly re-designed website. We are pleased to introduce you to a seminary that has served the Archdiocese of Denver, numerous other dioceses throughout the country and several religious orders for more than ten years. Today we are blessed to have more than 100 men in formation for the priesthood. The Archdiocese has two seminaries located in the heart of Denver, Colorado, with a majestic view of the Rocky Mountains. The two seminaries reside on the grounds of the John Paul II Center for the New Evangelization, which is also home to the Archdiocese of Denver Chancery Offices.
Our mission is clear. We are committed to instilling in candidates "an abiding priestly identity, a cooperative priestly ministry, and an integrated priestly spirituality." These goals are set by the Program of Priestly Formation-the normative document for seminaries in the United States.
Very simply, though, we have a single and most important priority: to form priests in the image of Jesus Christ, the One Priest in whose Priesthood every priest shares.
"A seminary is to form priests with the Heart of Jesus."
I invite you to take the time to get to know us better in what follows here. And if you are a young man who believes God could be calling you to the priesthood, we would welcome the opportunity to tell you even more about St. John Vianney Theological Seminary. Write, call, or e-mail us. You are also welcome to come for a personal visit! Together we can explore whether this might be the right place for you to discern God's plan for you to make a difference in the world for good!
