The academic community at St. John Vianney Theological Seminary is committed to the success of each seminarian enrolled in its program of priestly formation. Accordingly, as an important part of the academic advising process, each native English-speaking student as part of the admissions process must complete the reading and writing sections of the College Assessment of Academic Proficiency (CAAP). Non-native English-speaking students are subject to admissions testing applicable for International Students.
St. John Vianney Theological Seminary is authorized by the United States Department of Homeland Security to enroll international students in its program of priestly formation.
A student whose native language is not English must demonstrate proficiency in English before he can enroll in an academic program at the Seminary. A preliminary assessment of a student's ability to do college level work is administered under the auspices of the Language Department. Normally, a score of 525 or higher on the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) is required for regular enrollment in academic programs. Permission to participate in individual pre-theology cycle or theology cycle courses is granted on the basis of a recommendation of the Director of the English as a Second Language Program and the results of the language proficiency assessment (TOEFL). A comprehensive English as a Second Language Program (ESL) is offered at the Seminary.
St. John Vianney Theological Seminary forms men for the Catholic priesthood and for service to the Archdiocese of Denver as well as the Universal Church. Applicants interested in applying for admission to the seminary should contact Fr. Michael G. Glenn, Rector of the Seminary, at the following address:
